More than just names and dates, my tour is unique in that I provide my guests with a Paris orientation so you can get your bearings as quickly as possible and get up to speed on the French "cultural cues". You'll also learn how to navigate the city's metro and bus system, find the best places to change money, the best restaurants, the best local festivals and markets, museums, night clubs, and day trips into the French countryside." 

Following your Black Paris Tour Orientation, we begin at the Arc de Triomphe where the first great wave of African Americans fleeing to Paris climbed to the top of the stairs beginning in the late 1830s and where the 369th regiment "Harlem Hellfighters" was due to receive a hero's welcome following World War I (Check out the video).

We will see where Thomas Jefferson and the Black and beautiful Sally Hemings began their 38 year relationship in 1787.  Next stop, a new monument recognizing France's involvement in the African slave trade and recognizing a Black man who was one of Napoleon's greatest generals. Steps away there's a monument to Alexandre Dumas, the most proliferate writer in French history. We will see where Dr. W.E.B. Dubois staged an award-winning exhibition on the life of Blacks in America in 1900, and we will visit the theatre where Josephine Baker made her first appearance in 1925. Following a leisurely lunch (low price not included in the tour) we will stroll through "Little Africa", where you will feel as if you have been transported to Dakar or Abidjan.
